Finesse Design have scooped the trophy for the new Furnicom Innovation Award at the W6 Working with Wood exhibition.
Celebrity designer, Linda Barker, visited the shortlisted stands and was impressed with both the diversity of the entrants and the environmental considerations that were apparent amongst the innovations on show.
After Linda and fellow judge, Sue Calver (Furniture Consultant at FIRA) deliberated the finalists, Finesse emerged triumphant with their new range of distinctive handles made from the finest lead free pewter. Designed and manufactured entirely in the UK, the unique hand worked finishes highlight the natural beauty of pewter and complement today’s growing choice of wood finishes.
Finesse’s Managing Director, Stephen Widdows, who accepted the award from Linda commented: "We are thrilled to win this Award. We are very passionate about what we do and it’s fantastic that someone else appreciates the craftsmanship in these designs. The fact that they are 100% British makes us particularly proud of this accolade."
A Guarantee of Excellence
Finesse Design are members of the Association of British Pewter Craftsmen, the UK Manufacturers’ Trade Association which controls the quality of pewter products and authorises the use of its Quality Touchmarks. These Marks are in their own way
to pewter what Hallmarks are to Gold, Silver and Platinum and are a guarantee that the products confirm to the European Standard for pewter and the standards of
workmanship laid down by the Council. The ABPC was founded jointly in 1970 by Members of the Trade and the Worshipful Company of Pewterers, one of the oldest Livery Companies in the City of London and carries on the tradition of excellence started in the 14th Century.
